A major on-going project involves providing software support and training for a statewide computerized school bus routing project called TIMS (Transportation Information Management System). As part of the TIMS project, the school services division provides support for public school districts in 40 of the 100 counties in North Carolina.

TIMS Training at UNC Charlotte

Training classes for western NC school districts are offered at the hands-on training lab at the UNC Charlotte Urban Institute.

The majority of classes are offered in the fall of each year, with training also available at the spring TIMS Tymposium in March.  Spring and summer training schedules are lighter, and more customized to the activities for the time of year.

To register for classes, email your TIMS project leader.  Classes are all scheduled to run from 9:00AM to 3:00PM.  Email and phone info on project staff as well as directions to the training lab building are at the bottom of the page.

Spring Training Workshops:

April 29 - Student update and promotions.  This one-day session recaps the general student update process.  It is geared toward getting you through the student promotion to the next school and grade as well as re-familiarizing you with the full student update process.
