2008 Citistates Report

Nationally syndicated columnist Neal Peirce and colleagues from The Citistates Group will revisit their highly-regarded 1995 Peirce Report on the Charlotte Bi-State Region in 2008 (now referred to as Citistates Reports).

With funding from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation , the 2008 Citistates Report research will begin with research conducted this spring. The report will be published this fall in The Charlotte Observer and other newspapers in the region.

  • The 1995 Peirce Report’s insights on such important topics as growth, leadership, workforce and neighborhoods significantly raised awareness of those issues among the public and elected officials.
  • The Report’s impact has been lasting, as many civic leaders and policy-makers still refer to its findings, which were published as a multi-part series over four weeks in six regional papers. (download a copy of the 1995 Pierce Report )
  • This will be the first updating of any Citistates Report undertaken anywhere in the country.
