Information technology and high-tech communications systems are increasingly becoming important parts of transportation systems. The interdisciplinary researchers of the Transportation Center are working with state-of-the-art advanced telecommunications, Global Information Systems and integrated communications. AAA Foundation of the Carolinas Traffic Studies
Assisting with Parking and Transportation Policy Studies in developing an effective campus shuttle system
Examining the effects of Hurricane Katrina concerning demographics in evacuation and long term placement
Analysis of CATS Transit Operations and the South Corridor Light Rail Line
Developing as assessment of the traffic impacts of Neo-traditional developments
Assessment of traveler information systems at welcome centers and rest areas nationwide
Several local community transportation policy studies in Western North Carolina, all involving graduate student research assistants
Participation in the National ITS IDEA Committee (Intelligent Transportation Systems -- Innovations Deserving Exploratory Analysis)
Participating in several national committees including the Motorists Information and Services Association, Transportation Research Board, and others
